MARBURY, Alabama — A 16-year-old Marbury High School student died in a traffic crash Wednesday afternoon.

Samantha Cox, a softball player at the school, was killed shortly after leaving practice around 4 p.m., said Billy Brown, Autauga County coroner.

An Alabama Department of Public Safety dispatcher confirmed that the call came in around 4:44 p.m.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on County Road 56 near Marbury, the dispatcher said. No other details were immediately released.
