Henderson County fire marshals are investigating a house fire that killed a woman in February.

Firefighters found the body of Kimberly Peterson, 20, inside the charred remains of her small wooden one-story house at 112 Holly Tree Circle on Feb. 21. According to Fire Department records, a cell phone call at 12:44 a.m. alerted firefighters to the house fire.

What's new: Assistant Fire Marshal Kevin Waldrup said Friday that the fire has been deemed "human influenced."

"It is still an undetermined cause to the fire, but we have ruled out an electrical cause," Waldrup said.

Human influence refers to. among other things, candles, cigarettes or appliances.

Waldrup said that the fire started in the living room near an entertainment center.

What's next: Fire Marshals are continuing to investigating the cause of the fire.

"We have just about exhausted all of our options in the investigation," Waldrup said.

Waldrup said that the department is waiting for results from Peterson's autopsy results, which may shed more light on the investigation.
