BEDFORD — Authorities were continuing to investigate a weekend crash on Route 22 that killed a teen-ager who grew up in the Mount Kisco-Bedford area, police said this afternoon.

Michael Plunkett, 17, of Ridgefield, Conn., was pronounced dead at the scene of the one-car accident around 10:30 p.m. Saturday near Captain Theale Road. He was a passenger in a sport-utility vehicle and was trapped beneath it when it rolled over.

The SUV was being driven by an 18-year-old Bedford man. He and another passenger, a 16-year-old Ridgefield, Conn., boy, were taken by Bedford Fire Department ambulance to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, police said. They were treated and released, Lt. John Corbett said.

Police declined to release the identities of the driver or the other passenger, citing the ongoing investigation. Corbett heads the department's accident-investigation team.

Plunkett spent many years in Bedford before moving recently to Ridgefield.
