A Hutto family is mourning the loss of their 16-year-old son, Jeremy Delarosa, after he was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident.

Authorities say that at around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Hutto High School student was trying to walk across Highway 79 near County Road 123 when he was struck by a GMC Sierra pick-up truck.

Hutto's school superintendent says that the student was new to the district but had participated in their cross-country running team.

No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
